Critically acclaimed, Yamandu Costa has delighted audiences wherever he takes his unusual skill and sound. In his unforgettable performances – solo, accompanied by other musicians or orchestras – he carries the mark of music from the south of Brazil but admirably incurs different musical genres, forming a rare symbiosis with his seven-string guitar. Despite being young, Yamandu Costa has a long career. He was born in a family of musicians in the South of Brazil. He hit the stage for the first time at the of age 5, singing; at age 6, his father gave him his first guitar; at 21 he won the Visa Instrumental Award, one of the biggest recognition of Brazilian music that enabled him to record his first solo album. From there, he began a fruitful career: he had recorded several albums, solo or in partnerships; has done many concerts in Brazil and all around the world; got important awards, being the last, the Latin Grammy in 2021, as best instrumental music album with “Toquinho & Yamandu Costa – Bachianinha” (Live at the Rio Montreux Jazz Festival).
